Gynaecology and Obstetrics is a field in medicines that combines two separate branches, i.e, gynaecology, and obstetrics. To excel in the field of G&O, one must possess the skills of a gynaecologist and an obstetrician. Other than good knowledge and skill in the field, some other soft skills required are:

● Empathy: Gynaecology and Obstetrics graduates must also be very empathetic, especially since they work with the reproductive organs and pregnancy, which most women hold very close to their hearts. They must be sensitive and calm to soothe their patients and keep them positive.

● Comfortable Environment generation ability: As the job of an Gynaecology and Obstetrics is a little odd, since they deal with some personal organs and parts of a woman’s body, a sense of humour can go a long way. It helps the patient feel more at ease and creates a comfortable environment. However, one must not cross boundaries in the name of humour. Keep the humour tasteful.

● Problem-Solving: OB/Gyn’s must have good problem-solving skills and attention to detail. They must analyze issues carefully and comprehensively to create suitable treatment plans for the diagnoses.
